I met musician and friend Raymond Woods in 2021 while walking my dog Gigi around our new neighborhood in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia along none other than E. Broad St. (the namesake of my record label). He was sitting on his front porch listening to music and reading as you often do in Savannah. We struck up a conversation, something that also happens quite often. He told me about his most recent album Friendly Ghosts, and I told him about East Broad Records, the record label I had just started. We became fast friends and had a lot of fun together.
Then, I moved to New York, and he moved back home to Pennsylvania. We've kept in touch but haven't seen each other in years. What I love about Raymond is that he's a dreamer, an artist, a musician, a poet, and a lover of life. That's why I wrote this song to him. It's a musical message to the universe asking the Big U to support Raymond, so he can make his art and share it with the world, and to extend that support to all the artists out there who make their art no matter what. Artists hold the vision for the future, and the collective needs every creative dreamer to do that thing only they can do.
Dreams Do Come True started out as a beautiful guitar riff I recorded on my iPhone at the Best Western in Athens, GA. I was there with former East Broad recording artist Clara Waidley. We were working on her debut album Summer 4 Ever. In this video, I play the iPhone recording from that night and show the magical evolution of the song to a full production studio release.
